Dr Alex Holmes is a clinical and laboratory specialist Haematologist with a broad interest in all aspects of haematology. Born and bred in Newcastle, he graduated from the University of Sydney before undertaking his speciality training years at St Vincent’s, Calvary Mater, John Hunter, and Royal Hobart Hospitals. He is a fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
Alex has now returned to Newcastle where he works as a Staff Specialist at the Calvary Mater Hospital and NSW Health Pathology, Hunter Valley Haematology, and he has an appointment at the University of Newcastle. Alex also has admitting rights at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital.
Alex delivers teaching at all levels of medical training and is available to provide ongoing education to GPs and nurses. Alex is a compassionate and caring physician who is dedicated to providing his patients with the best possible care.
