Professor Andrew Boyle

Andrew Boyle is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Newcastle, Australia and a Cardiologist. He received his MBBS from Monash University and his PhD from the University of Melbourne.

He did advanced training at Johns Hopkins University and joined the faculty at the University of California, San Francisco for 7 years.

His clinical interests are general cardiology and interventional cardiology. He performs coronary angiography and stenting, valvuloplasty and structural heart interventions. He also runs a research laboratory at HMRI, studying the mechanism of heart failure after heart attack and novel approaches to regenerate damaged heart muscle.

Andrew's clinical research involves testing new technologies in the cardiac catheterisation lab. He has authored over 70 peer reviewed research papers and book chapters. He has been awarded fellowships of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
