Dr Michelle Chen is a General Surgeon now practicing at Newcastle Colorectal Surgery.
Michelle completed her medical degree at the University of NSW and her general surgical training through Liverpool and St George Hospitals in Sydney. Michelle obtained her fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2020. Michelle then undertook further subspecialty colorectal fellowship training in Melbourne (Northern Hospital and Monash Hospital) and Sydney (Nepean Hospital) via the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). Michelle has full accreditation in diagnostic and therapeutic Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy via the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).
Michelle has a keen interest in research and teaching. Michelle can speak Mandarin and Cantonese.
Michelle’s interest include minimally invasive surgery (both laparoscopic and robotic surgery) for the management of colorectal cancer, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor conditions. Michelle also performs other general surgery procedures such as hernia surgery and gallbladder surgery.
