Lake Macquarie Private Hospital is located on the Pacific Highway at Gateshead, south of Newcastle. The 118-bed hospital is a leader in the field of providing complete cardiac services including cardiac surgery.
The hospital has three dedicated specialty wards. A cardio / thoracic ward, a general surgical / colorectal/vascular ward and an orthopaedic / urology ward.
 Coronary Care Unit
Our modern Coronary Care unit has 12 fully monitored beds – specialising in the before and after care related to interventional and diagnostic cardiac procedures. To maintain the dignity of our patients the unit is designed to give privacy to each bed. The unit also provides patient education and advice regarding rehabilitation programs.
Intensive Care Unit - Level 2
The 10 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides specialist care for cardiothoracic and general surgery patients.. The unit has the capacity to provide invasive ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring , intra aortic balloon pumping and haemodialysis. Experienced ICU trained Medical and Nursing staff provides 24 hour care.
Angiography Suite
Comprises two designated cardiac laboratories providing both diagnostic and interventional procedures including Electrophysiology.
Operating Theatres
Lake Macquarie Private Hospital has a modern sophisticated theatre Suite with state of the art facilities.
The theatre Suite comprises six operating theatres – two designated cardiac – two orthopaedic with lamina flow - two multi purpose – a designated vascular lab performing both diagnostic and interventional procedures including endoluminal grafting.
 PACU ( Patient Anaesthetic Care Unit ) WARDS
Two modern PACU units with beds monitored to meet the standards set by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Main PACU
The main PACU unit comprises 10 beds monitored to met the standards set by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Day Care PACU
Day Care PACU has six monitored beds and a stage two PACU area where patients can relax and complete their episode of care.
Both units are staffed by Registered Nurses specifically trained in the post operative care of the anaesthetised patient.
 Day Surgery Unit
Our modern Day Surgery Unit can comfortably and safely accommodate a wide range of day only procedures over a number of specialties.
Specialist Medical Centre
A high-technology specialist medical centre, situated opposite the hospital, provides consulting rooms for specialists and radiology and pathology services. It is linked to the hospital with a clinical services walkway.
Pre Admission Clinics
These clinics are conducted for all major surgical procedures by our specially trained staff.
Discharge planning commences at time of pre admission so that you are aware and prepared for a smooth and efficient discharge from hospital.
