How to get there
Patients can present directly to the Lake Macquarie Private Emergency Department or can request to be taken there by ambulance.
No appointment is necessary.
No referral from your doctor is necessary.
The ED is located on the corner of Pacific Highway and Sydney Street. Enter via the main entrance, past the reception desk and to the right. Behind the main reception desk.
How much will it cost?
Your Emergency Department Account consists of two components. A Medicare refunded component – no additional cost to you and a Non-Medicare refunded component of $200 (service fee)
You will be billed for your attendance. If you are admitted to the hospital, your Emergency Department account is not included as part of your hospital admission. You will be asked to settle your $200 Emergency Department service fee account prior to leaving the hospital.
Please Note: Your private health fund does not reimburse you for the service fee resulting from an Emergency Department visit.
If you need X-rays, blood tests or equipment such as crutches these may be billed on a separate account from the provider of the service.
What if I am admitted to the hospital?
If you are admitted as a result of your emergency visit, as part of your hospital stay you may incur charges for:
- Discharge Drugs
- Exclusions within your Health Fund Policy
- Health Fund excess or Co-Payments
- Disposables and Prosthetics
You may also receive separate accounts (posted out) for services such as:
- ICU Intensivist
- Cardiologist / Cardiac Surgery
